Beach Day
By Mackenzie Moore
I could feel the energy seeping back in
flickering like when I yank the kettle
plug, mid boil and it sparks
the crack in your voice as it quickens
I wanted to bottle it
Wanted to close out and run home
like maybe the heaviness we’ve been
wading though was just the corkage fee
and who cares because at that point,
we were going home, full.
