In Remedy

By Erika Seshardi

In remedy

of somber moods

initiated by news day’s dread

I write

of wild sunflowers

imperceptible in motion

hobnobbing with the queen

of morning glory vines

deliberately interlaced

with heart-shaped affection

of chattering grackles

hidden among reeds and trees

in raucous rendezvous

In remedy

of dreary days and

ever desolate predictions

I look

for magic in the little things

and spin them into dreams

Erika Seshadri lives on an animal rescue ranch in Florida with her family. When not caring for tame critters or feral children, she can be found writing.
