In my dream yesterday
I rode the world to get to you
on the seat of my
three-wheeled tandem bicycle.
Your road stood empty
on that divided highway:
two-lanes in either direction
like the blood type separating the two of us.
I cycled countless miles
to realize I was headed
in the wrong direction,
and turn around to see
that the only other car
on the barren freeway
was a policeman
who does not stop me.
I arrive at your place
beside the corner gas station
just before the lightening struck
where the three of us made love
and refuse to say good-bye.
